up to 20 different portfolios and can contain Investment Trusts, Unit Trusts, OEICs, Warrants, Exchange Traded Funds,

Registering
Link to the portfolio registration»
To use the Portfolio tool you must first register to obtain a login name and password. Complete the form
(login name and password should be no longer than 15 characters each) and click the Submit button. If the
form is incomplete when submitted, you will be returned to the same page until all the fields have been filled in.
It is also worth noting that login names have to be unique; a message will appear asking you to chose a different login name
if your chosen name is already in use.
When your registration has been accepted, a portfolio name will be generated for you from your login name, and you
will be prompted to add items from the drop down menu. If you wish to change your portfolio name immediately go to
'Edit Portfolios' where you simply rename the portfolio and click the Update button.
To be able to set up a Trustnet portfolio your browser must be able to accept cookies and have cookie usage enabled.

Portfolio security
In order to access the Portfolio tool, you must first register with the system, supplying a unique login name and
a password of your choice. Once these details have been validated, they are stored in our internal database to which
only Trustnet has access.
During the login process, you must supply a valid login name and password, matching exactly the one chosen during registration
or, if it has been changed since then, the most recently updated login details. The decision to store the login name and
password on your PC is entirely at your discretion. However, if you decide to do so, we have made sure that the information
is encrypted before it is submitted to the cookie. In this context, encryption essentially means that if someone were to look
at the cookie, it would be extremely difficult for anyone to gain unauthorised access to a portfolio because the details would
only make sense to the Trustnet web server.
Access to all sections of the Portfolio tool, with the exception of the online help, requires a login. Login is required
only once but you will need to login again if you leave the Portfolio tool for any longer than 20 minutes or if you leave
the Trustnet site by closing down your browser. We do recommend that you click on the Exit button (available on all pages
of the Portfolio tool) in order to log off in the correct manner.

Adding items
If you have one portfolio, simply log on to the system and make your selection from the 'Add items to your portfolio'
drop down menu. If you have more than one portfolio you may change to another portfolio from within the Add items pages.
To do this, click on the portfolio name from the drop down menu.
Every page of the portfolio tool has an indicator of where you are within the facility. Below the blue navigation
bar at the top of the page, your location will be displayed in red e.g. 'My Portfolio - Add Investment Trusts'. Below
the banners are instructions on how to proceed and the name of your portfolio.
Adding Funds
The funds available are Investment Trusts, Unit Trusts, OEICs, Exchange Traded Funds, Venture Capital Trusts,
Pension Funds, Insurance Bonds and Warrants. To add any of these you must first click on your choice from the
'Add items to your portfolio' menu. A list of funds available on Trustnet will appear in alphabetical order, sorted
by fund name. You may also sort the funds by management group by clicking on 'Group Name'.
To add a fund to your portfolio click in the check box on the left side of the fund name, in the 'Add' column
(a tick will appear in the box if selected correctly) and then click on the Add button above the table of funds.
Many funds may be added at once from the same page. A message will appear at the top of the page telling you how many
funds have been added and will also suggest linking to the Valuation View to add quantities to your chosen funds. It is
important that you click the Add button before moving to another page, changing the sorting order or screening pages, your
selections will be lost if you fail to do this.
Another way to add a fund to your portfolio is via a fund factsheet. Fund factsheets can be reached from within the
adding funds system, simply click on the name of the fund from the alphabetical fund list. A fund factsheet shows
detailed information about the fund such as holdings and investment objective. The Prices & performance section of a
fund factsheet contains a plus sign
that can be clicked on to add the fund. If you view a fund factsheet when logged
off from the portfolio service, clicking on the plus sign will take you to the portfolio homepage. In this case, to add
the fund simply log on to your portfolio and the selected fund will appear automatically in the Valuation View. If you have
more than one portfolio you have to choose which portfolio the fund is to be placed in before linking to the Valuation View.
Non-subscribing funds cannot be added using this method, as you will be taken to a feedback form.
Adding Equities
The UK equity data can only be accessed via the portfolio tool. To add an equity you must first select 'Add Equities'
from the 'Add items to your portfolio' drop down menu. There are two ways to search for your equity. Enter the company
name or symbol in the box and click the Search button, or select the first letter of the company's name from the alphabetical list.
Only 100 results may be displayed on the page, if your search returns more click on the 'Next' link beside the Add button at the
top of the page. An equity can be added to your portfolio using the same method as adding a fund.
Adding Indices
Indices may only be added from the Watchlist View drop down menu. Added indices will only be seen in this section of your
portfolio, as they should be used for reference purposes only.
Adding a Cash Account
A cash account can be added via the Valuation View or Summary View. Choose 'Add Cash Accounts' from the drop down menu,
type in the name of the account, select an account type, add the balance and then click on the plus sign
in the Add column.
You can also create an account for your liabilities such as mortgage or credit card, which will appear as a minus sum.
You can also alter or delete existing accounts from this page; click on the Update button to complete any changes.

Deleting items
If you have one portfolio simply log on to the system and click on 'Delete Items' at the top of the page.
If you have more than one portfolio, you can choose a different portfolio from the one viewed by using the
drop-down menu next to the 'Delete Items' title.
Selecting 'Delete Items' will take you to a list of all the existing items in your portfolio. To delete an item
click in the check box on the left side of the item name (a tick will appear in the box if selected correctly) and
then click on the Delete button above the table. After deleting items in this manner a message will appear at the top
of the page telling you how many items have been deleted from your portfolio.
If you have multiple entries of the same fund or equity, the delete page also shows the quantity of each item so that
you can distinguish between them.

Altering your details
When logged on to the portfolio system, 'Edit Portfolios' will allow you to add more portfolios (the maximum number
in a single registration is 20), change the name of an existing portfolio, change your default portfolio or delete
a portfolio if you have more than one. In each case the Update button must be clicked on to make any changes final.
It is important to note that you cannot delete your default portfolio and you must have at least one portfolio.
If you have more than one portfolio and wish to delete your default portfolio, change the default to a different
portfolio and then delete the original.

Portfolio views
Watchlist View
When you log on to your portfolio, this is the first View your investments appear in. This default View cannot be changed.
The Watchlist View shows your customised list of investments in a similar format to Trustnet's Prices & performance tables,
with all the same ranking and sorting capabilities and links to charts for all subscribing funds.
Clicking on the fund name will take you to the fund factsheet, which includes investment objective, top ten holdings
and sector weightings. Chosen equities are also listed; more details about the share can be viewed by clicking on the
share name. Indices can only be listed and added in this View. As the Watchlist View provides the Prices & performance
data of selected funds, equities, and indices, this page does not show the total value or the profit or loss of your portfolio.
Valuation View
The Valuation View calculates the value and profit or loss of individual holdings, and the total value of your portfolio.
Calculations are daily, but there are exceptions as some funds price weekly or monthly. This View also allows you to add
multiple cash entries with a choice of account type.
After adding a fund or equity you will be directed to the Valuation View. Add the quantity and the total cost (in pounds)
of your holding and then click on the Update button above the table. The total value of the individual holding will
be calculated using the price of the day it is inputted. The profit/loss column is calculated as total value minus cost.
The total value of your portfolio can be viewed in up to 17 different currencies. To change the default currency of Pounds
Sterling, click on your preferred currency listed in the drop down menu immediately below 'Base currency:' at the top of the page.
Summary View
The Summary View shows a comprehensive breakdown of investments with a corresponding chart. There is also a drill
down option that allows you to view a more detailed version of your portfolio and a chart specific to the group of
investments that are viewed. To access the extended view click on the plus sign next to the item or item name, such as
'Investment Trusts', the funds within the section will be listed with links to the fund factsheets on Trustnet. Equity
holdings will link to Thomson Financial Solutions share profiles.
This View will also allow you to change the base currency of your portfolio via the drop down menu located at the top of the page.

Alerts
Overview
The Portfolio Alerts facility provides you with email messages containing any of the following information about your
portfolios at whatever frequency you require:
- A portfolio summary with varying levels of detail - Portfolio Summary Messages
- An Alert message based on a certain movement in the price of an item within your portfolio - Price & Discount Alerts
- An Alert message based on a certain movement in the total value of your portfolio - Total Value Alerts
You have complete control over how often the Alerts are sent and the amount of detail each message contains.
To add an Alert, choose an option from the 'Add a new alert' drop-down menu. Once you have added an Alert you will
receive a confirmation email stating the options you have chosen. Selecting 'Edit' allows you to change your Alert,
click on the Submit button in the pop-up box to confirm the changes.
The default email address that appears in every Alert section is generated from the address that you submitted
through the portfolio registration system. A different email address may be used for each Alert by selecting
'Update Alert email Addresses'; simply type in the new address, making sure the relevant Alert is ticked, and click the Update button.
Portfolio Summary Messages
This allows you to receive updates on the general status of your portfolio. Selecting 'Portfolio Summary Message' from the
'Add a new alert' drop-down menu enables you to access the pop-up box containing a range of options. If you have more than
one portfolio remember to highlight the portfolio you want to receive an Alert on.
The Detail Level has a choice of Total Only, Summary or Detailed. If you choose the Summary option you can expect an email
message that shows the total value of the different groups of investments that you have selected. The Detailed option gives a
complete breakdown of your portfolio, citing the value of single funds and equities. Each option shows the total value of your portfolio.
You can also select how often you receive the Portfolio Summary Message. From the Frequency drop down menu you can
choose from Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Quarterly. Once you have completed all the fields to your satisfaction click the
Submit button and you will be informed that your Alert has been successful. To modify an existing Portfolio Summary Message
select 'Edit', to delete an Alert simply click 'Delete' at the end of the relevant Alert section.
Price & Discount Alerts
This section allows you to set Alerts for changes to individual funds or equities. The choice of Alert is different in
this section according to which group of investments you select. If you have Investment Trusts in your current portfolio,
an Alert can be sent based on a certain movement in the price or discount. Unit Trusts can have alerts based on bid price
or offer price. If you wish to set an Alert request for any OEIC listed in your portfolio, choose the mid price option.
Choose 'Price and Discount Alert' from the 'Add a new alert' drop-down menu to access the pop-up box which will enable you
to set up the Alert.
In all cases the current price/discount of your highlighted fund or equity will be displayed once you have selected an
option from the Alert On field. When using the % Price Change option, the Value field should contain the percentage and
not total price as the Alert value will be calculated for you once you have entered a percentage figure. Via the Type
option you can also choose whether you will receive Alerts greater or less than the current value of the fund or equity.
To confirm your choices select 'Add' at the end of the Alert section. Click the Exit button at the bottom of the page to
close the window.
If you have more than one portfolio and wish to set up Price or Discount Alerts on items in a different portfolio,
remember to select the correct portfolio name from the drop down menu at the top of the pop-up box.
Total Value Alerts
If you want to be sent an Alert when the total value of your portfolio increases or decreases, you should choose
'Total Value Alerts' from the 'Add a new alert' drop-down menu. Press the Submit button to confirm your choices.
Note that the Currency field will allow you to determine the currency in which you receive the Alert email, but
will not change the base currency of your entire portfolio. If you wish to change this, you can do so in the Valuation
View or Summary View.
